In 1986, Ken Wilson, a strategic business consultant specializing in strategy and marketing, founded the Wilson Marketing Group, Inc. With over 33 years of practical business-to-business management and marketing experience he has a singular purpose: to help his clients meet and exceed their business objectives and create shareholder value.

As a strategy and marketing expert, he works with technology companies, manufacturing firms, and business-to-business services to define strategy, competitive and market analysis, and marketing implementation plans - creating breakthrough strategies, accelerate implementation, developing high-performance marketing and sales organizations and improving both the top and bottom lines. His clients include a combination of Fortune 50, medium and small sized companies – both public and private. As an independent advisor, he has a singular purpose: to help his clients meet and exceed their business objectives and create shareholder value. Ken takes a global, multicultural approach based on having lived and worked abroad. He has gained the reputation for being a thought leader in the arena of strategy, marketing and sales.

Ken is an experience management advisor; his approach is based on a participative process that empowers senior executives. A critical management issue is usually the starting point for an engagement. It might be the need to strengthen revenues and profits through a new, focused business strategy; to better implement an existing strategy; to revitalize the organization; or to become more market focused.  Ken acts as a catalyst, bringing new ideas and approaches, and designs appropriate processes - but management must ultimately drive the direction and implementation of change. Outcomes are defined in terms of solid improvements, not reports. 

Ken’s clients include Fortune 50 companies as well as entrepreneurial including Bermo, Inc., Cargill Inc, Conwed Plastics, Colorhouse, Despatch Industries, FSI International, MTS Systems Corp., Mosaic, Remmele Engineering, Xcel Energy, and many more.

Ken has held an appointment as adjunct faculty at the Graduate School of Business at the University of St. Thomas for 19 years, where he taught highly popular graduate level courses in strategy, marketing, and product/brand management. He has lectured on planning and strategy at the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management.  He is an author, speaker, seminar leader, and facilitator on a variety of marketing, planning and strategy topics and has authored two books, Strategic Marketing Planning, and Product Marketing Management. He has authored a number of articles on planning, strategy, and marketing. 

Prior to founding WMG, Ken held a number of executive and management positions  at Honeywell, Bunker Ramo, IBM, and Nortel, including Divisional Controller, Product Manager, Marketing Manager, and Sales Manager. Ken also serves on a number of public, private corporate and advisory boards. He holds an MBA from Queen's University and B.Sc. from the University of Minnesota.
