Ken is the founder and CEO of
the Wilson Marketing Group, Inc. Ken is a leading-edge
strategist and valued advisor for executive teams. His
client base includes a combination of Fortune 500 companies
and privately held companies. For over 20 years, Ken Wilson
has worked closely with the senior management of many of the
nation’s leading corporations to create breakthrough
strategies, accelerate implementation, and develop
high-performance organizations. As an independent advisor,
he has a singular purpose: to help his clients meet and
exceed their business objectives and create shareholder
value. Ken takes a global, multicultural approach based on
having lived and worked abroad.
He has gained the reputation for being a thought leader in
the arena of marketing and sales strategies and tactics.
Ken is an experience management
advisor; his approach is based on a participative process
that empowers senior executives. A critical management issue
is usually the starting point for an engagement. It might be
the need to strengthen revenues and profits through a new,
focused business strategy; to better implement an existing
strategy; to revitalize the organization; or to become more
market focused. Ken acts as a catalyst, bringing new ideas
and approaches, and designs appropriate processes—but
management must ultimately drive the direction and
implementation of change. Outcomes are defined in terms of
solid improvements, not reports.
In addition to his consulting
experience, Ken has also been
a member of the adjunct faculty at the Graduate School of
Business at the University of
St. Thomas for over two decades, teaching courses in strategy, product management,
and marketing, and has lectured on planning and strategy at
the University of
Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. He is an author, seminar leader,
and facilitator on a variety of marketing planning and
strategy topics, and has authored two books, Strategic
Marketing Planning, and Product Marketing Management. He
has authored a number of articles on planning, strategy, and
marketing.
Prior to founding WMG, Ken held
a number of executive and management positions at
Honeywell, Bunker Ramo, IBM, Leisure Line, and Nortel,
including President, Divisional Controller, Manager Product
Management, Marketing Manager, and Sales Manager. Ken also
serves on a number of public, private and advisory boards.
He holds an MBA from Queen's University and B.Sc. from the
University of Minnesota and is a member of the Institute of
Management Consultants and is has been awarded the
designation of Certified Management Consultant (CMC),
a globally recognized certification of professional achievement.
